Warren Akitt, co-owner of Slivers & Rivers, is a craftsman at all times and an artist particularly when inspired by a customer’s vision. With 31 years of experience as a journeyman carpenter, he has made many customers’ desires for fine furniture pieces come to fruition.
Warren finds joy in taking what some might judge to be “ordinary wood” and turning it into a creative and useful piece of furniture or decoration that can beautify a home, a restaurant or a corporate office. His work can be found within all those venues, from Calgary to Lethbridge and points in between.

Why Slivers & Rivers? Warren and his partner, Tracy Glen, started the business in 2019. Both are avid fly fisherman and outdoor enthusiasts who believe in protecting nature and the environment. Come fishing season, customers will be able to take introductory fly fishing lessons through the “Rivers” part of Slivers & Rivers. More details on that are pending. But respect for the natural wonders of the world is key to Warren’s woodcraft, which often puts old wood to new and beautiful uses. The results are one-of-a-kind pieces with longevity and beauty.

So what types of things are we talking about here? We invite you to examine the photo gallery that is part of this website. Some examples of residential projects include kitchen tables, sliding doors and feature walls. On the commercial side, Warren has built and installed large and small tables, shelves and feature walls in restaurants. Desks and various wooden items that Warren has fashioned and installed now adorn corporate offices. Customers come to him with their ideas and he provides advice and creativity to ensure their vision meets expectations.
This is not a cheap process. Possibly inexpensive, depending on the project, but never cheap. Customers can expect quality work. Products from Slivers & Rivers are custom-made pieces from real wood, with character, and built to last and serve.

You are invited to visit the office and see the woodworking shop at 1111 Deer Avenue in beautiful Pincher Creek, Alberta. Meet Warren, discuss your vision for a wood crafted item or multitude of items, and don’t forget to pet the dogs, Sage and Cura, who are sometime-assistants and constant mascots. Free estimates are available and finished items can be installed or shipped as needed.
